KOHLER, Wis. – September 13, 2010 – Kohler Engines today announced three new 2010 John Deere zero-turn-radius mowers are equipped with KOHLER Command PRO® engines. Designed with commercial landscapers in-mind, the KOHLER-powered John Deere Z700 ZTrak™ Series mowers directly address marketplace demand for a lighter duty commercial cutter that retains a heavy duty, reliable commercial engine.
Outfitted with 23- and 25-horsepower KOHLER Command PRO commercial-grade engines, the John Deere Z700 ZTrak Series mowers feature the legendary reliability and durability of KOHLER engines. In terms of an engine overview, the KOHLER engine features a cast-iron vertical crankshaft, four-cycle, twin-cylinder gasoline-powered, air-cooled engine built with cast iron cylinder liners, hydraulic valve lifters, aluminum block construction and an overhead valve (OHV) design. The net benefits of these features: high power performance from a long-life design and the capacity to uniformly cut through tall, wet grass without hesitation. The KOHLER-powered John Deere ZTrak 700 Series mowers boast 18,000 feet per minute blade tip speed, with mowing speeds up to 10-mph and a 400-lb towing capacity.
“After 90-years of engine manufacturing, Kohler keenly understands that commercial landscapers depend on their mowers and engines for their livelihoods. Down-time is not an option. Because cutting conditions won’t always be advantageous, Kohler focuses on designing engines with an optimized governor system that can respond with peak performance even when confronting thick, wet grass,” said Cam Litt, marketing manager, Kohler Engines. “Consistent power is the defining characteristic of KOHLER Command PRO engines, proven to go from zero to full load with only a market leading 10 percent drop in RPM. With a quicker response to increasing load demand, commercial cutters will enjoy less bog down, more usable power and blades spinning faster to yield a better quality cut.”
